Merry Christmas!!!! Update and greetings!

What a year it has been for the Wilsons. I am typing all this, but George is going to fix my issues. LOL, so here goes.

We started oFf this year in Louisiana thinking we needed to get a move on. After lots of talking and thinking and searching we found Butler University. So last March, George came to Indianapolis to look at Butler and see what may come. We came back in June to look at house and finally had one the first of July when we moved in. I just want to say we will miss our family there in Baton Rouge so much....but this is where we needed to be. It has been amazing. Everything is so different.

Sterling is a senior at Carmel High. He is doing good and is busy taking ACT's and driving this week (finally). And he is dating a little bit.

Savannah is a freshman at Carmel and is makeing leaps and bounds on improvement. We are so proud of her. She is just a beauty. French seems to be her favorite subject by far, and she walks around the house translating and answering everything in French.

Eli is busy with 2nd grade and is trying his best to hang on. He is loving scouts and learning all kinds of things. He has almost finished his wolf badge. He's very excited to be playing baseball this spring, and we've almost got him convinced that football is a good idea next fall. If there was ever a child built to play offensive line, it's Eli.

George is the Scout Committee Chairman at the church despite the fact that he was never a scout and doesn't seem to know anything about it. He loves work at Butler. I'm having a hard time convincing him to skip work these days. It's kind of strange, but in a good way. :)

I am doing good. Learning what it means to be a Cub Scout den leader. George and the kids call me Mama Bear since I'm the Bear leader. I don't care much for the moniker, but it amuses them. I am learning patience for sure, which I'm told is a good thing. The house still has some boxes here and there, well, maybe more than just "some". I want to get them all done by my birthday in March, but I had planned on having them done by Halloween, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas. If at first you don't succeed...

We are loving the weather. We never thought that a couple of people from the deep south would love winter weather in the Midwest. I just wish we had more snow. :) Hope you are all well.

The Fall in INdaiana

Wow....such a huge difference then in Louisiana. It has been wonderful. Windows open for the wind. beautiful trees changing colors school is in full swing. George is loving Butler and it is keeping him very busy. Sterling and Savannah have been busy with school and all their classes. They are doing good for the most part. Sterling had made the switch a little easier then the 14 ry old girl....but it is beginning to come around. Eli is doing good. He loves his teachers and is doing pretty good. I am happy and better then I have in a very long time. I am about perfect....and will be if I can keep losing weight like I am. I have lost almost 75 pounds in a year and can't wear any of my pants. It stinks really. Savannah is taking Viola lesson up at Butler and Wednesday is full of YW, YM, and Cub scouts, or BOy Scouts for George now. Sterling has been set-apart as a priest in the priesthood. Eli is going to be baptized in October. Yes we are active for the first time in 3 years. We are in a very good place all around. We hope you are doing well and are having such good days as we are.

Uncle James and us at the Wilis/Sears Tower

We loved spending4 days with Uncle James. He is my little brother buy 12 years....can you believe it? I know right!!! We did lots of fun things. We got to see him graduate Corps school in the Navy....all those men in White....nice!!! LOL James not included of course.....too weird. Then we had dinner at Petterinos steakhouse in the theater district. It was very yummy. Then off we went to see Jersey Boys. No one but G and I had been to a broadway show....they all enjoyed it. It was the story of the 4 seasons group from the 50's 60's. It was AWESOME....lots of wonderful music. Then off to hotel for some sleep. ON Friday we went to the SkyDeck at what was called the Sears tower. It took forever....like 3 hours. I never remember it taking that long before. Then we had a small snack and were off again to yummy dinner at Carmichaels Steakhouse. It just melted....it was amazing. None of the kids...(little brother being included) had ever been in a restrauant like these two steak places....it was a little weird for them and were all asking which fork to use and everything. And at Petterinos the chef asked if he could make something special for Eli....so of course Eli being Eli wanted Fried Shrimp and homemade fresh french fries. Then at dessert they sent us the only desserts we did not order as a gift for us. It was AMAZING!!!! Lets see on Saturday we went to see Harry Po0tter in 3D-IMAX....DOnt bother...it was such a waste of money and time. Only the first 20 minutes were 3D. UGH!!! Not worth the extra 10 bucks. Eli and headed back to the hotel...we got a great deal on a priceline at the Hilton CHicago and only paid $110 for a room that should have been $269. Meanwhile, George, James, and Sterling headed to see the Chicago fire game and eat mexican and just get to know each other. This was the first time James had met the other men in my life. I loved having them all together and I hope James had a good time. This....is what I say a crappy picture taken at the SKy Deck...we had been in line 2 hours by this point. UGH!!!! Comment...I would love to hear from you all.

Sterling is 17!!!

I can't believe Sterling is 17. Man I feel old. He was 5 when we got married. He is such a great kid. He is busy with soccer and girls and friends and school. He is a great big brother and although he wont admit it he loves them too. When Savannah talks about guys or dating....he says no way, not until I check them out and tells her all the time she can't date until he has met them. And he will sit and play games with Eli when no one else wants too. No...he won't just "let" Eli win...but of course Eli can kick all our butts on most video games. Sterling informed me today he will be 18 in 363 days and then will be off to college. He also told me he did not need permission to see any movie he wants too. Great!!!! :) The kids get to pick anyplace they want for dinner, he picked The Melting Pot. It was so yummy....thanks for picking my favorite place Ster!!!! They out a candle in the chesecake. It was too funny. So...Happy Birthday Sterling. I love you and am so proud of you.

Only in Louisiana!!!!!

Ok, so we have lived here 3 years and I have just been adding things up that folks do here. I am going to start taking a camera with me everywhere we go so I can share with you the crazy things I have seen only here. First of all the roads stink. No sidewalks and ditches everywhere. So that stinks but no big deal ok, so here are some of the crazy things people do
.
1. They put "packages" on the back of there trucks to show their manhood and how "big" he is. UGH....GROSS!!!!

2. So I totally get mourning for a loved on! I should know right? But here they go all out. It is not unusual to see a permanent vinyl sticker on their back car window in memory of their loved one. The other day I saw a minivan with an oval sticker(think entire back window) with a color photo and scripture and dates of a little girl. She was like 2 when she died.

3. Crosses.....I get that really and when someone dies in a car wreck I have seen crosses all over the US on the side of the interstate. Here...not only do you have crosses but they get decorated for each holiday. Christmas lights, ghosts, easter eggs, mardi gras beads, you get the picture.

4. I have never seen so many Catholic churches in my life. Baptist yes, Catholic no. WOW!!!!!

5. Bourbon street-everything you have ever heard is true. It is crazy. I was there for my sister-in-laws bachelorette party on St. Patricks day 2 years ago. Can I just tell you, I saw way too many body parts. One lady was only wearing a pair of daisy dukes, fishnet hose, knee high boots, and a feather boa. No top!!! And then a group of older couples and I mean late 50's early 60's came down the street ( we were throwing beads from a balcony) and he showed us well.....everything as his wife well....anyway. He had a kilt on and nothing under it. His wife was in irish boxers and a tiny top no bra. It was too much!!!!!!!

I could go on and on and on. I will get some pictures so you can share my amazement. :)

Frustration!!!!

Eli has wanted to ride the bus for 2 years now. So finally this year with Savannah at a private school and Sterling so busy with soccer it worked out time wise if Eli rode the bus. It has been great and he has loved it....until today. He came in crying so hard and so upset. He says "Mom...this kid on the bus was so mean and was making fun of me and telling jokes about me over and over and it really hurt my feelings." OH man...break my heart. I just cuddled up with him in the chair and tried to get him to calm down. So now I have a call in to the bus driver to see what happened and if she even knew about it. And now we deal with him not wanting to ride the bus anymore. I know this happens all though life....but he is so sensitive and does not deal well with this kind of thing. Even from his brother or sister....much less a friend on the bus. :(

Eli is 8

The pics are Eli being...well Eli, his cake, and he and Savannah in Virginia. I think he was 3 here. I can't believe the baby of the family is 8. It makes me feel so old to have an 8 yr old now. Eli is great. He is busy playing video games and reading. He wants to play baseball this year he said. We shall see about that. He is so tall and does not resemble the little tiny 3 lb baby he was. :) He is 4'9" now and well.....not a little guy. Here are just a few pictures. Oh...and yeah...I am such a good mom I forgot to get candles.....which explains the "candles" on his cake this year. Try buying candles at 8:00pm New Years Eve. :)
